Zen vs Community Fibre: which is better in 2026?

Community Fibre is the London altnet that made gigabit cheap: symmetric full fibre on its own XGS-PON network at prices Zen doesn't try to match. The catch is availability — it only exists where it has built, which means Greater London and a few pockets of Surrey and Sussex.

The verdict

Where Community Fibre is available it wins on price, and it isn't close: symmetric gigabit and multi-gig tiers for less than Zen charges for 500 Mbps, backed by a genuinely strong service record (72% Which? score, 4.7 on Trustpilot). What Zen offers instead is a price that stays fixed for the whole contract — Community Fibre's rise policy has changed more than once in 2026 — plus a free static IP and coverage almost everywhere. If you're in London and want the cheapest fast pipe, Community Fibre is the honest pick. If you're outside its footprint, or you want your bill and your IP address to stay put, it's Zen.

Choose Zen if…

  • You live outside London — Community Fibre simply isn't an option
  • You want a price that genuinely can't move for the whole contract
  • You need a static or public IP without paying extra for it

Choose Community Fibre if…

  • Its network reaches your building — the price gap is large and real
  • You want symmetric upload speeds for backups, streaming or a home server
